Wintons forced out of the running.

The Winton family expected to agree a deal with Chris Wright last week, but negotiations have broken down.

"We are extremely disappointed" said Alex Winton. "Our bid would have seen the club retain ownership of our stadium. That's why the offer was for less cash — we have been trying hard to channel money towards the club rather than elsewhere."

A statement from Chris Wright would obviously explain his own side of the story, but will it come?

The Brian Melzack-led consortium are now the only active potential buyers left — discounting Ron Noades' offer for Loftus Road — and their offer for the club could be finalised before the end of the season.
