Wigan V QPR at The DW Stadium - Match Preview

Nicholls nets extended Latics run

Wigan will be without goalkeeper Scott Carson when they host QPR.

The former England international suffered an ankle injury during the warm-up prior to Sunday's goalless draw against Charlton and faces a few weeks on the sidelines.

With Ali Al Habsi (hip) still injured, youngster Lee Nicholls will keep his place in goal after an impressive league debut at The Valley.

Shaun Maloney, Gary Caldwell (both hip) and AlIvan Ramis (knee) are also missing but manager Owen Coyle hopes to tie up a loan deal for Aston Villa midfielder Marc Albrighton in time for the clash.

Joey Barton will be missing from the QPR squad for the Championship clash at the DW Stadium.

The fiery midfielder collected his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Burnley and serves a one-match ban.

With Tottenham loanee Tom Carroll also absent due to an ankle injury, Alejandro Faurlin and Jermaine Jenas will be pushing for recalls in midfield.

Andy Johnson is fit after a hamstring problem and could be added to the squad but fellow striker Bobby Zamora (knee) and defender Nedum Onouha (hamstring) are still on the sidelines.
