Warnock aiming for QPR promotion

Neil Warnock targeted promotion to the Premier League as he was unveiled as the new manager of Queens Park Rangers."I want to stabilise this season and then take the club on," said the former Crystal Palace boss, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year Loftus Road deal.

"Everyone knows I want to manage in the Premier League and I don't think there are many clubs coming in for me."

Warnock left Palace on Monday to replace caretaker boss Mick Harford and become QPR's fifth boss of the season.

The man who presided over that managerial merry-go-round, owner Flavio Bratiore, left the club as chairman last month.

Warnock, though, claims he is not fazed by the frequency of changes at the club, joking: "Well, I always look at the other side - they've got to get it right sometime, don't they?"

The 61-year-old, who inherits a side only three points off the Championship relegation zone, was hopeful his appointment would herald of new era of steadiness for the west London club.

"I don't think it's a job for a young manager and it's going to be my job to bring the club together now - not just the first-team but every aspect of the club," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Stability has not been around this club for a while but it's the right challenge at the right time for me," he added.

That was a sentiment echoed by managing director Ishan Saksena.

"It is important to bring back stability - he will bring that back and lead the way in a bright future for the club," he said.

"He is the complete package as a manager and was always our number one choice."

Warnock, who steered Sheffield United to the Premier League in 2006, is Rangers' 12th manager in four years.

This season he had guided the Eagles, who he joined in October 2007, into contention for the play-offs by January before the Selhurst Park club were deducted 10 points as punishment for going into administration.

His first game in charge of QPR is at home to second-placed West Brom at Loftus Road on Saturday.
