The former Sheffield United centre half has been rumoured to be in talks with Burnley as well as Rangers about a possible move South to W12.

Although no official comment has been made by either clubs, Town boss Joe Royle admitted Santos would be leaving the Suffolk club and the Turf Moor side are first in the que.
Speaking to the official Ipswich Town website he said:

"Burnley have expressed an interest in Georges and we have given them permission to talk to the player and his agent.

"Although we have lost Johnny Mac, Jason De Vos has come in for him and we also have Drissa and Richard Naylor at the back and youngsters Aidan Collins and Gerard Nash coming through in that position as well.

"We are also in a situation where we have to let a player go before we can bring anyone else in. It's by no means a done deal that Georges will be on his way to Burnley, we have simply given him the chance to discuss the matter."

Santos (33) has also enjoyed spells at Tranmere Rovers and Grimsby Town before joining the Portman Road club. QPR MAD have been informed that the jFrenchman was part of the Ipswich defence that kept six of the clubs league clean sheets. However Santos was also involved in all but one of the eleven games last season where Town let in three or more goals.

He is unlikely to make a decision regarding his future until after the weekend with a move to the Clarets looking most likely at this stage.

However Ian Holloway may see him as an ideal addition to his already small squad which requires a defender or two. QPR MAD will keep you updated with the latest news as and when we hear it so stay tuned.
