Rowly's return causes friction with Bees fans

Martin Rowlands' return to GP will be a highly charged affair and no mistake! The former Bee returns for the first time since defecting to QPR last summer, but more to the point, for the first time since his controversial and confrontational actions during, before and after the derby in November.

Rowly not only enraged former admirers with his churlish and ill-timed [and ill-informed] comments in the Evening Standard, but his shirt kissing antics in front of the away fans at Loftus Road got even the most placid Bee hot under the collar.

Griffin Park die-hards normally offer returning reds a generous reception, but the former Eire under-21 will be booed from start to finish, at best. On current form I expect Martin will be confident of having the last laugh and will treat any chants with a sarcastic grin and a well hidden gesture here and there, but if his manager Ian Holloway has any sense, he'll have a quiet word with his tempestuous midfielder to calm him down before kick off. Not that Rowly ever listens to what managers say; Brentford fans can remember clearly a catalogue of incidents Rowlands' temperament let the team down.

Defeat in the last two Rangers encounters, not to mention results this season so far, has certainly left expectations at a low among Bees ahead of the long awaited fixture, but it's about time we rubbed the hoops' noses in it a bit and fingers crossed Brentford can dish out the sort of treatment that Chesterfield administered two weeks ago.
