Rose set for new contract

Rose who has spent 7 years at Rangers since signing from Arsenal is about to sign a new 1-year deal thought to be based around appearances and bonuses rather than a concrete basic wage.

Because of injury problems, Rangers will not commit to a longer deal and with money scarce around W12 Rose will have to settle for less as the club begin building for a return to the 1st division.

Rose, 30 in September is the second of the contract rebels to sign following Marc Bircham's signature last week. Paul Furlong, Richard Johnson and Marcus Bean are likely to sign new deals in the near future along with Richard Edghill.

Martin Rowlands who recently made his Irish debut following a fantastic year at Loftus Road is all set to put pen to paper. Rowlands, whose deal does not expire until 2005 has been offered a new improved deal by the club to scare away interested parties.

The club have also held talks with Kevin Gallen about a renewed deal and they hope to seal the signing of Lee Cook when the midfielder returns from holiday this week. Cook is thought to be the first of a few new faces to join this summer.
