Rangers boosted by Carlisle

Defender Clarke Carlisle will be back in action for QPR sooner than expected after a scan revealed his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.

It was first thought Carlisle's season could be over, but the swelling around his injury has since subsided and he is back in training.

Carlisle could now return in time for Saturday's crunch clash with Plymouth.

His return poses a defensive dilemma with Matthew Rose and Steve Palmer performing well in his absence.
