Pleat denies move for Bircham

Tottenham have ruled out a bid for QPR midfielder Marc Bircham when the transfer window reopens next month.

Spurs caretaker boss David Pleat is keen to bolster his midfield options to allow Ledley King to revert his more familiar defensive duties.

He has been heavily linked with a swoop for Bircham, who impressed as Rangers reached the Second Division play-off final last season.

But he dismissed suggestions of a cut-price deal for the Canada international in January.

Pleat said: "No, I'm not interested in Marc Bircham."

Rangers boss Ian Holloway is keen to keep his squad together for a promotion drive despite speculation QPR may have to sell.
