Peterborough perspectives

We began the game with Bignot now back at left-back again and Doudou came in to play out on the right with Langley this time on the left.

We started quite well with Langley looking dangerous when cutting in from his left-midfield position. We took the lead after Mark Tyler, the Peterborough 'keeper, decided to pull Thomson down in the box although he was hardly in the most dangerous of positions with his back to the goal on the by-line.

Thomson, after missing his last penalty against Wycombe, went to the left this time and put it away with no problems. Although he was on the scoresheet again he's not getting the breaks he was at the start of the season. What was going in then is now just going wide. We're still a more dangerous team when he's playing though.

Terrell Forbes was excellent again today and appears to be back to his best after a slight lean spell recently. His calmness and composure for someone so young is admirable and he'll surely keep improving. A good contender for player of the season without a doubt.

Peterborough's best chance came when their most influential player on the day, Jimmy Bullard, unleashed a superb shot which flew past Evans but luckily rebounded off the post. Evans has looked solid enough so far but there were a couple of times today when, for some reason, he hesitated clearing back passes only to hit the ball at an oncoming attacker although thankfully he got away with it.

With another young bench Dennis Oli was given his second substitute appearance for us and came on to show some nice touches. He looks a little like a taller Chris Kiwomya but hopefully that is where the similarities end. Overall a decent enough performance when there were other distractions taking place.

My ratings: Evans 5; Forbes 8, Shittu 6, Palmer 7, Bignot 7; Doudou 6 (Griffiths
6), Peacock 6, Rose 6, Langley 7; Gallen 6, Thomson 6 (Oli 7). SNU: Bull,
Murphy, Daly.
