Ollie says no to Jackett

Former right-hand man Jackett took up the reins of the Swansea manager's job at the beginning of April and wants to strengthen the Welsh club's chances of promotion from the Third Division with the players he knows best from West London.

Olly reckons his pal has little chance of landing chief target Paul Furlong.

Holloway said: "Not in a million years. Paul's not going to want to go back two divisions at Third Division wages. Best of luck to Kenny, but I'm not going to allow him to get the players I need for Division One."

Defender Richard Edghill and midfielder Richard Johnson are also on Jackett's wish-list, but one of the few players likely to be elsewhere come August is captain Steve Palmer. Holloway had the Honours graduate earmarked for a coaching role, but is likely to get turned down by the 36-year old defender.

Olly explained: "Steve wants to continue playing for as long as possible."

Tomorrow morning the manager will tell a number of junior players they are surplus to Rangers' requirements, but will sit down next week with the rest to thrash out new contracts.
