McDermott eyes Leigertwood move

McDermott told BBC Berkshire: "I'd like to sign Leigertwood on a permanent, that is absolutely my view on it.

"When he plays he always manages to come out with the ball, even if the team aren't playing well you know what you're going to get from him."

Reading were held to their 14th stalemate of the season when they drew 1-1 with Watford at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, and McDermott admits his side are lacking some quality upfront.

"We're missing that little bit of quality that makes the difference and that player that makes the difference," said the Royals boss.

"That player who can turn that draw into three points - that's what we are looking for."

Reading, who are 12th in the Championship table, host Millwall on Tuesday before travelling to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.
