Jordi Lopez... great name, average player?

If Jordi Lopez is as good as his name sounds, we'll probably win the league by ten points, playing beautiful one-touch football.

When everyone was hoping to hear news of a new striker, instead what we got was a former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder, who failed a medical at Birmingam last month.

Oddly enough that's not a joke and he's actually 27 not 37 years-old by the way. Lopez even won the UEFA Cup under Juande Ramos at Sevilla three years ago.

Perhaps the most worrying thing is that Ramos didn't think he was good enough to fit into his Tottenham side last year. Or that Portsomouth and Blackburn said 'hasta luego amigo' while he was on trial in the summer. Not to mention that failed medical at Birmingham.

Lopez could well prove to be a silky skilled genius in the mould of Akos Buzsaky, but the last twelve months of his career suggest he may be on a plane back to Spain in the summer, or on a short cab ride to Luton Town.

Let's hope Paulo Sousa can get the best out of him.
