Jackett on Luton game

QPR Assistant Manager Kenny Jackett is looking forward to this Saturday’s visit by Luton Town to Loftus Road, as Rangers seek to continue their good home form.

Jackett knows that this weekend’s clash will be a tough encounter, with both clubs hungry for points.

Nevertheless, Jackett is confident that the Rs can continue their promotion push against the Hatters.

Speaking to QPR World, he said: “It will be a very big test for us. Luton are a good side, and have continued up the leagues from the Third Division and they’ll be tough again this weekend.

"They are certainly making a good fist of getting into the play offs.

“These kind of games are fantastic. We’re all playing for something. We are playing for automatic promotion and they are playing for a play-off spot – and that will always add bit of spice.

“The Rangers fans’ desire to see success, however – is now really coming through. Fans have had some lean years here, and we feel that over the last 18 months to two years we’ve really got it going again.”

And, with Rangers still sitting second, with a game in hand, after Bristol City fell to Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park midweek, Jackett says that pressure at the top is the kind of pressure that professional footballers should feed off.

“There is a lot of excitement, a lot of focus - and of lot of pressure at the moment. I said to a couple of players the other day, what kind of pressure is it that you want: pressure at the top or pressure at the bottom?

"As a footballer you’ve got to crave the pressure of success, and you’ve got to enjoy those times.”

But, with the tough task ahead, Rangers will be approaching the game fully prepared for what is sure to be a battle royal.

“We won’t underestimate them – they’ve got a front two that are a handful in Howard and Showunmi, and the rest of the side is solid. They have an experienced staff and a good manager and we won’t be underestimating them at all. We respect them for what they have done this year.”
