Rangers looked to be heading for an away win at The Hawthorns when a 57th minute own goal from Jonas Olsson and a header from Kaspars Gorkss five minutes later gave them a two goal lead.
However, Jerome Thomas pulled a goal back for Albion in the 67th minute and Simon Cox equalised for the Baggies in the third minute of added time.
"It was cruel definitely, I'm disappointed, the lads are bitterly disappointed, it feels like a loss right now," Gallen told Sky Sports after the 2-2 draw on Monday night.
"But when we have a good think about it later, maybe when we wake up tomorrow we'll realise its maybe not a bad point in the end.
"I thought some of the players in particular were absolutely outstanding.
"We just didn't finish it off, a little bit more discipline just in the last few seconds of the game when we could have kept the ball in the far corner.
"We lost possession trying to score a goal really and they hit us and its painful right now, I've got to say."
"Like I said, there's disappointment in there but when they wake up tomorrow they'll be sore because some of them boys have worked very, very hard there.
"But they'll realise that we've had two defeats on the bounce and let in eight goals unfortunately in them two games, so to come up here and get a point, you know I probably would have taken that coming up before today."
