Injury updates

Clarke Carlisle and Richard Johnson are both doubtful for this weekend's game against Stockport County.

Both players are making steady progress, recovering from ankle injuries sustained against Bristol City and Grimsby respectively.

Nevertheless, the Loftus Road medical team believes that Saturday's game could yet come too soon for either of them.

With Arthur Gnohere beginning his two-match suspension this weekend, Ian Holloway will have some thinking to do.

Matthew Rose is an almost certain starter after an encouraging display alongside Gnohere on Saturday, but the identity of his central defensive partner remains uncertain at this stage.

If Carlisle is ruled out again, one of Steve Palmer or Terrell Forbes would be the most likely replacement for Gnohere.

Forbes has not featured for Rangers since the 2-2 draw at Wycombe whilst Palmer has played the majority of his football in midfield this season.

The club captain lined up alongside Marc Bircham in the middle on Monday, although with the return of Martin Rowlands from his own suspension this weekend, Ollie does have midfield options at his disposal should he choose to drop Palmer back in to defence.

Elsewhere long term absentees Nick Culkin and Dan Shittu are both making excellent progress.

Shittu is jogging again, much earlier than expected, and is hoping to return to action considerably sooner than the original nine-month prognosis.

Meanwhile Culkin is due to return to training in a couple of weeks time and could yet be available for the final fortnight.
