In-form Swansea up next at Loftus Road

Loftus Road's biggest crowd of the season saw Rangers maintain the pressure on the top six with a deserved point against high-flying Reading on Saturday afternoon.

QPR were the better side in the first-half, but couldn't fashion the rewards that their hard work merited. Heider Helguson should have scored with the goal at his mercy, but instead his close range header glanced past the wrong side of the post, with Federici beaten in the Reading goal.

Reading had the clearer chances in the second half, striker Leroy Lita, who was recently linked with a move to Loftus Road, was twice denied while Kevin Doyle also came close. The next month will be crucial to the club's promotion chances, beginning with the home game against Swansea on tuesday night; the Welsh outfit lie just a point behind Rangers in the Championship table.

Paulo Sousa has lost just one league game in twelve since taking over at Loftus Road, while opposing manager Roberto Martinez is unbeaten in his last twelve in the Championship.

After an impressive home debut from Liam Miller yesterday, it will be interesting to see who Sousa names in his starting eleven on tuesday night. He is expected to revert to playing two up-front, so it looks as though either Miller, Mahon or Leigertwood will drop to the bench in place of Dexter Blackstock.

Rangers may yet bring in a new striker before tomorrow's deadline, after failing in their bid to lure Albanian international Erjon Bogdani to the club this week. A win could take the Super Hoops inside the top-six for the first time in Paulo Sousa's reign and provide the catalyst for a genuine promotion push for the remainder of the season.
