Ian Holloway is widening his search for a new defender after Arthur Gnohere rejected a return to QPR.

Holloway offered the Burnley centre-half a chance to return to Loftus Road, where he had spent a successful loan spell earlier this season.

But the Frenchman opted to stay with the Clarets, leaving Holloway short of cover because of injuries to Dan Shittu and Marcus Bean.

Holloway said: "We were looking at it but he's turned us down and he won't be coming.

"We're still looking for another defender and I've got loads of targets but whether they are of sufficient quality is another matter."

Rangers defender Richard Edghill added to Holloway's worries this week by has suffering a setback on his return from a knee problem.
