Cookie Delighted To Sign

The QPR squad returned to pre-season training with Lee Cook also lining up to be put through his paces.
After finally agreeing a deal with Rangers that sees him leave Watford and sign for his boyhood heroes, Cookie was obviously delighted. Speaking to the official website he said:
"I've been waiting a long time, but now it's done and dusted I can't wait for the season to get started.

"I knew in January that QPR would be interested in me if they went up. I was looking out for my results anyway, but even more so, knowing that I could be signing for them.

"I had a good time at Watford last season, but I thought the time was right to move on."

Not only did Lee follow Rangers fortunes last season, but also in the immediate aftermath of his spell on loan here.

Back then, Rangers were gunning for the play-offs and he admits that he was upset as anyone with how that particular season panned out.

He said: "I went to the Play-Off final with a couple of friends and felt as much pain as them having played that season. I had a great time here then and it was part of the reason I wanted to come back."

But now promotion has been achieved, thoughts turn to Rangers' first season back in the second tier of English football - the re-named Coca Cola Football League Championship - and Lee is confident that the Superhoops can give a good account of themselves.

He said: "Every QPR fan is ambitious and it won't be 'can we play in this league?', but 'can we get in the play-offs?' I've played in this division and there's nothing to be scared of. I think QPR have got a good chance this season."

The 22-year-old left winger returns to QPR having spent three months here on loan during the 2001/02 season.

During that spell he won the affections of the Rangers faithful with a series of impressive displays and admitted at the time that he would have loved to secure a permanent deal at Loftus Road.

Cookie has signed a three year deal, keeping him at the club until 2007. QPR MAD would like to give him a warm welcome and wish him luck for his Rangers career.
