Ian Holloway had identified Lee Cook as his first major summer signing since he left after his successful loan spell at Loftus Road, a season before last. After long dragged out negotiations that began in May, Cookie will finally sign today and be a fully-fledged Rangers player in time for pre-season training on Monday.
Cookie had rejected a new contract at Watford and had his heart set on signing with Rangers- the club he and his family have supported all their life, and although the 22-year old has reached the end of his contract at Vicarage Road, the Hornets will still be entitled to a fee (as he is under 24 years).
The fee is rumoured to be in the region of £150,000 but both clubs are still in the middle of negotiations with Watford Chairman Graham Simpson rumoured to be holding out for in excess of £200,000.
Cook returns to west London having made a real impact as a loan signing in 2001/02.
Playing on the left wing, he made 13 appearances for Ian Holloway's team, contributing enormously to Rangers' march to the play-offs.
He scored once and made no secret of his boyhood love for the Superhoops.
Cook will now join up with the rest of the Rangers squad for pre-season training and begin preparations for life in the newly named Coca-Cola Championship.
QPR MAD hope to bring you an exclusive interview with Cookie in the near future.
