Contract Latest

Rangers are still in deep discussions with three players over the renewing of their contracts.

Matthew Rose, Richard Johnson and Richard Edghill are all yet to agree new deals at Loftus Road and have been tracked by rival club’s keen to offer them a position elsewhere.

Rose, Johnson and Edghill were all pivotal in the promotion run-in, turning in consistently impressive displays in defence and midfield respectively. QPR MAD contacted the club enquiring about the position club and player are in as to the whereabouts of a deal but a club spokesman only commented saying "Talks are still ongoing with the three out-of-contract players".

Johnson and Edghill have been offered contracts at Swansea City as former assistant manager Kenny Jackett looks to strengthen his side ahead of an assault on the Coca-Cola League 2 campaign. Dennis Oli (released this summer by Rangers) looks likely to be the first former Ranger to join the Swans with Terrell Forbes odds on to follow him.

Johnson and Edghill have expressed their desire to stay at Loftus Road after enjoying their short spells at the club so far, however they are both holding out for improved contracts. Money and length of a deal seem to be what the duo are stuttering on. Both players rightly agree that they contributed a lot to the R’s promotion and wish to be rewarded for their efforts. They believe they deserve a longer contract than the 1-year deal on the table.

Rose has been offered a month-to-month contract due to his constant injury problems that have blighted his 7-year spell at the club. An appearance-based contract has been offered but again Rose feels he deserves a little more than what is on offer.

QPR MAD understands that an announcement regarding Ian Holloway’s new coaching scheme, its personnel and system will be made on either Thursday or Friday. However, we also advice fans to be prepared for a major news flash following last week’s announcement. We also expect to here the latest on the trio’s contract talks.

Two players who Ollie has been tracking look unlikely to be joining the club. Jody Morris and Les Ferdinand are both in talks with Millwall about possible moves. In the last week Rangers have missed out on Barry Hayles, Liam Lawrence and Craig Holloway. Lee Cook looks set to sign after an agreement over a compensation fee is made by a tribunal in the next month.

With players returning to pre-season training on Monday (July 5th), Ollie is keen to add to his squad with the new backing of Chairman Bill Power- as reported by QPR MAD "Ollie- New Beginning". The transfer market will now start to get into full progress following player’s holidays and breaks from the game, they can now sort out their futures in the month leading up to the big start (August 7th).
