Bircham reveals trophy ambition

Marc Bircham sees the LDV Vans Trophy as a chance for QPR to exorcise their Millennium Stadium demons this season.

Rangers head into a quarter-final tie with Brighton this weekend, top of Division Two and with their minds set firmly on promotion.

But Bircham takes the Trophy just as seriously as a chance to erase the memory of his play-off final heartache in Wales last season.

He said: "It took a long time to get over losing in Cardiff and in some ways I don't want to return to the scene of the crime.

"But it would be nice to exorcise the demons and going to the Millennium Stadium is a big carrot - we'd take 30,000 with us.

"We want to win the league but we will definitely be taking the competition seriously."
