Balanta pushing for first-team action

With no one scoring regularly for Rangers at the moment, it seems about time that Angelo Balanta was given a chance in the first-team.

The Colombian-born rookie has impressed both on loan at Wycombe Wanderers and for the reserves of late.

Today, he capped an impressive performance with a goal in the 2-1 reserve team victory over Gillingham at the Harlington Training Ground.

It would have been more too, had his 35-yard lob not been dealt with rather desperately by Gills keeper Alan Julian.

The Kent outfit took the lead just after the interval through Ben Godfrey, but Rangers were dominant throughout and their hard work paid off late on.

After hitting the woodwork from close-range, Balanta finally found the net when he cut inside his marker and blasted home from ten yards.

Josh Parker won the game for the R's with ten minutes to play, slotting home neatly after seeing an earlier effort cannon off the crossbar.

Meanwhile, Loftus Road will host the England Under 20 International friendly against Italy, on Tuesday 31st March, kick-off 19:00.

If he keeps this kind of form up, then Angelo Balanta could well be involved.
