Colchester United 3 QPR 1

With so many tactical changes during the course of the game (Bignot taking his 'versatile' tag to the max by playing in four different positions), it was no surprise we under-performed — many obviously thought they'd been told to change sides as well. All this to combat the 'mighty' Colchester.

We started using 3-5-2, but soon reverted to 4-4-2. Half a dozen more shuffles of the pack later and it was match over. Colchester didn't need to overly exert themselves, winning the match with considerable ease, capped by a splendid final goal by Rapley to finally kill off our tame efforts to get back in the match.

We created only half chances, and even Doudou's goal at the end was deflected in. Injuries may be hitting us hard, but it was still a reasonable side put out. We simply got the basics wrong on the day — the ability to pass and move, and the knack of hitting decent dead balls. I lost count the number of times their 'keeper came to collect corners and free-kicks unchallenged.

We deserved nothing, as Ian Holloway quite rightly accepted — and he should accept the blame as well. We should be doing better thant this.

I'm hugely disappointed the way the season is finishing after everything looked so promising just a couple of months ago. I may be used to disappointment being a QPR fan, but it still doesn't make it any easier to accept.

QPR: 3-5-2 - Evans 6 - Forbes 8, Shittu 6, Palmer 6 - Bignot 6, Langley 7, Peacock 5, Daly 6 (46mins Warren 5), Murphy 6 (40mins Doudou 6) - Gallen 7, Thomson 6. SNU: Bull, Duncan, Pacquette.
