Tommy Bonner (15) has been called up to the Scotland U16 squad for an upcoming youth tournament in Switzerland. Bonner has featured in every game for Rangers U17 team this season and the tournament will herald Tommy's first international call up. The 18-strong Scotish party will play games against Belgium and hosts Switzerland in a three-way tournament from the 13th-16 th October.
Meanwhile, the U17s continued there excellent early season form with a 3-2 win away at Cambridge. This was another outstanding performance considering many were U15 players. Cambridge were also unbeaten and without a goal conceded this season until the visit of the R's.
In a fine first half display which saw all of the games five goals, Rangers took the lead as early as the second minute through Dean Sylvester- and the lively striker netted his second only 20 minutes later.
Luke Townsend chipped in to seal victory on 43 minutes, as the second half yielded few opportunities for either side, although not for want of trying.
Dean Sylvester looked a threat the whole game accoring to coach Joe Gallen, who credited the 3-2 win to a "total team performance", where he believes depth has been the key to the squads continued success, and the teams unbeaten run.
Gallen has been pleased with the addition of several younger players to his squad, as he has already noticed improvements to their game, seeing proof of their response to the challenges set before them.
This Saturday the U17s continue their 4 match road-trip, which sees them take on Colchester at 11am.
