Waddock: Mistakes have cost us

"I felt we put in a reasonable performance but two mistakes has cost us dearly," he said.

"I thought we were in the game for long periods but we get beaten at home again so I'm not happy with the result.

"The players responded well to the goal as did the fans. I know it's a results business but we're only seven games in, if it was seven left it would be panic stations.

"Birmingham are a good team and they are going to be there or thereabouts. We took the game to them but with the second goal it shows a little bit of quality.

"We've got enough firepower in the side to score, we've shown that, but we're also leaking goals.

"If we play like that against teams who come here or when we go to other teams, we will pick up results."

Eric Black (Blues assistant manager)

"We're not getting carried away but it's nice being where we are.

"The players answered the question of whether they have character. They are starting to get the idea of what is needed on a week-to-week basis and they are getting their rewards even though they are not firing on all cylinders.

"We've now got to focus on what we are doing and just see what the other teams do."
