Rose wants first team spot

Matthew Rose says he may consider his future at QPR if he is not in the side by February.

Rose has just returned from an ankle injury it was thought might end his career.

He now faces stiff competition for a place and fears seeing out the season in the reserves could lead to him being left out in the cold when his contract expires this season.

Rose said: "If I'm not in the team by February I might have to have a word with the manager.

"It's important to be playing and with my contract ending next year, I don't want to leave things up in the air.

When the surgeon gave me the all-clear, it was a big relief

"I want to play in the First Division and I'd love to play in the First Division with QPR.

"But I don't want to get to the summer and be left high and dry. Who knows whether QPR will even want me then?

"I've got a family now, and I've got to think about that side of things as well."

Injections and intensive treatment helped Rose return to action as a late substitute in Sunday's LDV Vans Trophy win over Brighton.

It was his first outing for the first-team this season.

"I feared the worst six weeks ago," the former England Under-21 international revealed.

"They thought the injury might even end my career but then the surgeon gave me the all-clear. It was a big relief.

"I'm just glad to be a part of things again."
