Rose- "How Far Have We Come?"

Last updated : 10 November 2004 By Mark O' Haire

Rose is the longest serving R’s player having been signed by Stewart Houston back in 1997 and after last week saying that the Rangers can keep up their current good form, now admits, Wigan is the big test.

Wigan suffered there first league defeat of the season last weekend at home to Plymouth and will be eager to bounce back after being head and shoulders above the rest of the table.

Rangers on the other hand are stuttering to keep up the results after they sustained seven successive league wins.

Defeats at Wolves, Preston and West Ham have not dampened the spirit at Loftus Road and a win on Saturday will surely boost morale and confidence once more.

Rangers are in the middle of a colossus bunch of games that started last week at Upton Park and could make or break the season. After the weekend’s clash they travel North to play Leeds United and the fixture run includes trips to Nottingham Forest, Reading and Plymouth as well as home games against Ipswich and Cardiff.

Look towards the Wigan match, Rangers will be without influential midfielder Marc Bircham due to suspension and Tony Thorpe and Martin Rowlands through injury.

Despite playing 45 minutes for the reserve team yesterday, Arthur Gnohere is unlikely to be fit enough to be in contention for Saturday’s game.

Speaking about the Wigan game Rose said:

"Playing Wigan this weekend will be a great test for us, because it will show us how far we have come.

"So far, they have looked head and shoulders above most teams in this league.

"They are tight at the back and their front two of Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington are excellent, as is their midfield."
