Rangers fail with Davies bid

Ian Holloway is now looking elsewhere after being told Rangers' offer for the defender falls well short of Boro's valuation.

Wigan and Ipswich are also interested in Davies, who impressed during a recent loan spell at Loftus Road.

Holloway needs cover at centre-back as Matthew Rose is doubtful for this weekend's game against Reading after picking up an ankle injury at Ipswich on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Rangers have expressed an interest in signing Wolves striker Dean Sturridge on loan with a view to a permanent move.
