Austin set for QPR bow

QPR are likely to hand new signing Charlie Austin a start up front when they begin life back in the Sky Bet Championship at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager Harry Redknapp should also have Loic Remy available for selection, despite reports linking him with a move away from the club, and the Frenchman could partner former Burnley striker Austin in attack.

Fellow summer arrivals Danny Simpson, Richard Dunne and Karl Henry may also feature having come through pre-season unscathed.

Anton Ferdinand, Joey Barton and Argentinian Alejandro Faurlin will be available if required after returning from loan spells abroad.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Lewis Buxton and Kieran Lee.

Defender Buxton is struggling with shin splints, while midfielder Lee requires surgery to resolve a hip problem and will be out of action for two months.

Albanian striker Adthe Nuhiu will be included in the squad as long as the club receive international clearance in time following his recent arrival from Austrian club Wels and fellow summer recruit Jacques Maghoma, signed from Burton, is also hoping to be involved.

Versatile midfielder Jeremy Helan turned his season-long loan from Manchester City into a permanent move this summer and is likely to start, while boss Dave Jones has no other injury or suspension worries.
