QPR 0-1 Gillingham reserves

Timmy Breacker could barely contain his disappointment at his reserves side timid display against a young Gillingham outfit. The game ended in a narrow defeat for the R's although the fact that Edghill and Bean both played a part will be a bonus.

The usual mix of youth and experience was on show and Rangers will have been hoping to build on the good showing against Brentford last week. Craig Holloway from Arsenal played in goal with a view to earning himself a contract in the summer. He was beaten by a first half strike from Matthew that was enough to win it for the home side.

Despite trying much harder in the second half Rangers simply could not peg back the Gills. Pacquette, Bean, Oli and Edghill all went close to bringing the R's level but could not quite make the breakthrough.

Breacker said of his sides' first half showing, "I was angry with them at half time and I made sure they knew about it. I told them that they are privileged to be footballers and that they should not abuse this privilege."

As always, the result at this level is secondary to giving youngsters match action and helping the first teamers back to fitness. Olly will be pleased to have Edghill and Bean closer to match fitness and another run out for youngsters like Donnelly, Bailey and Farr can only help their development.

QPR: Holloway, Perry, Edghill (Craig), Fletcher, Ifura, Donnelly, Bean, Bailey, Farr, Oli (Coke), Pacquette.
