Putting the record straight

Last updated : 13 May 2004 By Mark O' Haire
It has been brought to my attention that an article has been published in the Hammersmith Times, and the following extract has subsequently been widely reproduced on several Internet sites.

' Paladini is also a fan of Holloway, with the only dissenting voices allegedly coming from the consortium headed by the former QPR Commercial Director Brian Rowe. Rowe, who was at the club in the 1980's, is reported to be interested in bringing Jim Smith back to the club he managed between 1985 and 1988 '

I wish to put on record the following statement:

" I front a consortium that has been negotiating with the club since the start of 2004. These discussions have been conducted in private and on the strict understanding that the "Confidentiality Agreement" be adhered to and that there would be no disclosures to the media, or any third parties, unless both sides agreed. We as a consortium have upheld this agreement in its entirety. However, in view of this, and other grossly misleading revelations that could, deliberately, or otherwise, discredit our bid, I feel compelled to disclose one or two facts.

Despite unfounded rumours our latest bid is still on the table and will remain so until the Board of Directors accept or reject it. The extract from the article above is a total fabrication, and had the journalist bothered to get his story validated, he would have then realised this. Indeed, I personally, have gone on record and stated that Ollie is the most dedicated Manager I have met in this industry (and I had experience of at least ten during my time at QPR), it would be unthinkable, totally wrong, and suicidal, not to give Ollie the opportunity to take the club further, and I have told Ollie this. Had the consortium I represent ever thought otherwise, I would have walked away a long time ago.

The plans encompassed within our bid include, ( 1.) Prevention of a return to administration.( 2.) Ensure QPR' s future by further major financial investment. ( 3.) Restructuring of the club. ( 4.) Immediate attention to the £10m loan. ( 5.) A planned new 36,000 capacity stadium within the Borough.( 6.) Return to the Premiership.( 7.) To start the process of the globalisation of the QPR brand name. Ambitious? May be, but living in the past? I don’t think so.

I want to assure all QPR fans that we only have, and will only ever have, the interests of QPR in our thoughts and actions, so if the future decrees that we are not to be given that opportunity, then so be it, but it will not change anything, and I hope that the "Chosen ones" are of a similar mind."
