Rangers boss Ian Holloway is desperate to land the French defender, who had a spell on loan at Loftus Road this season.

As we went to press, Rangers had agreed a deal with Burnley but were waiting to establish whether a hamstring problem Gnohere has been carrying has cleared up before going ahead with the signing.

Gnohere will join on loan for the rest of the campaign and then permanently if the Rs are promoted. Rangers will then pay a small fee, followed by a further payment if they stay in the First Division next season.

The deal is another victory for Holloway following the signing of striker Jamie Cureton.

Holloway has pursued a number of players without success, including young Aston Villa winger Peter Hynes, who joined Cheltenham. But Cureton and Gnohere have been his top two targets.

If Gnohere is passed fit, he will play in Rangers' home game against Notts County on Saturday.

His arrival will give Holloway a chance to rest popular left-back Gino Padula, who has been struggling with a knee injury for some time.

Cureton, meanwhile, is in line for his debut after his move from Korean outfit Busan Icons was rubber-stamped when international clearance was received this week.
