Ollie Delighted After Win

The boss also gave some special praise to a few of the R's players.

He said: "What a game, what a goal and what an atmosphere. I need to go and lie down. We've got the three points, whether we deserved them or not who knows, but at this level you have got to be foot to the floor.

"We had a few problems with regards to team selection because I didn't have another centre forward on the bench. I've been looking, but I keep getting a big custard pie in my face from everywhere I look. I'm starting to get sick of the taste of custard.

"I don't know where my defence was for one of their chances, but how many of ours did their keeper keep out? He took absolutely everything didn't he? He was starting to get right on my nerves.

"I thought half time came at a good time for us and the second half was a lot better. We got control of Jimmy Bullard by putting Marcus Bean on him rather than Kevin Gallen and that seemed to help us a lot.

"I've said before that I don't think there is a better player than Dan Shittu at this level. Even today, Wigan's strikers tried to push the ball past him and make him run, and he out ran them - beautiful!

"I'm so proud of Gareth Ainsworth, he ran himself into the ground today and still looked a bit annoyed that I brought him off. But at the moment, it's all about getting people fit and working on our strength in depth.

"As for Paul Furlong, he's a different class. He looks after himself and at the moment he looks like he's playing with a smile on his face.

"But overall, we didn't deserve to lose at West Ham, last week so this result has evened things out for us."
