NO GO FOR FLO

Bill Power yesterday admitted that Rangers had been tracking the lanky striker for six months, talking to the player regularly and offering him a return to British football. But Flo has snubbed a move back to West London and has agreed a deal in Norway despite reports saying that Rangers were on the verge of agreeing a deal this week.

Ian Holloway finally revealed rangers’ interest in the player last week after constant rumours but the manager did dampen the spirits of hopeful fans by saying it was a “100-1 shot”.

Bill Power today confirmed to the official website there was no deal for Flo. He said:

“We’ve missed out and it’s very disappointing. But we fully respect Tore’s decision and we would like to wish him the very best of luck.

“He’s a lovely lad and was clearly very impressed with what we had to offer. But in the end he has made a decision for the sake of his family and we fully understand his reasons.

“Five English clubs wanted to sign him but he told us that if he came back to England it would have been to Loftus Road- so there wasn’t much more we could have done.”

Flo’s agent said:

“It has been a very difficult decision for Tore and he came very close to signing for QPR.

“But his decision was based on family considerations and his own need to be close to his home after many years abroad.

“Tore ask me to wish QPR all the best in the Championship and hopes the team will succeed in advancing to the Premiership in 2006.”

Holloway will now turn his attentions elsewhere with two unnamed players training with the R’s this week.

A Nigerian full-back and a Danish goalkeeper are currently on trial with a view to a permanent move.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Derby have signed former Rangers loanee Andrew Davies from Middlesbrough on loan for the season as well as offering a trial to former Ranger Richard Edghill.

Wolves have offered £2million to the Rams for last season’s star pair of Spaniard Inigo Idiakiez and Polish forward Gregor Raziask, but the move was rejected by the Pride Park club but more talks are expected to follow.

Southampton are hoping to cling onto former Rangers forward Peter Crouch despite interest from West Ham. Crouch has set his heart on a move to Liverpool and any deal with the Hammers looks unlikely.

Crewe have signed Wrexham’s scoring sensation Juan Ugarte on a Bosman deal whilst Plymouth have signed Nigerian defender Taribo West on a free transfer.
