Tim Breacker will continue his work as the R’s defensive coach but will also become assistant manager.

Following Mel Johnson’s departure, Gary Penrice will double up as chief scout and the club’s strikers coach.

Gary Waddock will also continue his work as the midfield coach whilst taking over as the reserve team manager. His duties will also include looking after a select band of talented youngsters.

Mark Devlin announced the changes saying:

"Ian came to the Board with changes he'd like to implement," Devlin said. "One of his key targets was the coaching of an elite group, separate from the rest of the youth team to ensure they are better prepared for first team football.

"Gary Waddock will run a reserve team that will comprise of young players such as Shabazz Baidoo, Pat Kanyuka, Scott Donnelly and Stefan Bailey who are groomed for first team action."

Waddock said:

"The thinking behind it is that I know what's needed from a player to be able to cut it in the first team, so I can work with this Elite Group and report back to Ian Holloway on how they are doing.

"Obviously Ian will be watching them in training when they help out with set-pieces and he will also be at reserve games, so he will have a feel for who he thinks is ready as well."
