Rangers have been hit with the news that possible transfer target Jamie Cureaton is to sign for Barry Fry's Peterborugh United.
The Posh are the only club to have agreed a fee with Cureaton's Korean club Busan Icons of £50,000 and the player is now discussing personal terms with his agent and club officials.
Cureaton has been desperate to return home to continue his career following a disapponiting spell in Asia. Since returning home he has trained with former club Reading and had move's fall through with Sunderland and ourselves.
Our current cash situation meant a possible luxury item of Cureaton was out of the question. We already have Kevin Gallen, Paul Furlong and Tony Thorpe challenging for two positions up front- all very different players and with Richard Pacquette returning back from a loan spell with Dagenham, competition is quite strong. That was without mentioning summer signing flop-Eric "Thierry Henry" Sabin.
The worst scenario to come from Cureaton moving to Peterborough is that he scores the winner at Loftus Road in February's SKY LIVE game against the Posh.
Danny Shittu's injury shocker was confirmed on Monday. Big Dan is to be out of action for up to 9 months. He injured his anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's defeat at Bournemouth despite playing the full 90 minutes. The R's medical team gave him a full checking before sending him off for a scan when the injury was confirmed.
It is a huge blow for us as our defence has been exposed qiute a lot recently and we have conceded a number of "silly" goals-Bournemouth as a perfect example.
For Saturday's game at Chesterfield, Matthew Rose is expected to drop into the right back role with Terrell Forbes partnering Clarke Carlisle who missed the Bouremouth game through suspension.
Olly has already been on the look at for a Arther Gnohere type loan replacement "with what little money i have now i need a player who can make goal-line clearances rather than a midfielder".
Possible loan signings names have yet to arise as specualtion will most definately begin over who may be joining temperately to the promotion push.
Wes Daly has rejected a move to Grays Athletic in favour of staying with the R's. The youngster was discussing terms with the Essex outfit after both clubs agreed a fee before Daly pulled the plug on the deal. Olly claimed "it was all about getting him regular football. but i've no problem with him staying". Daly was an unused substitute for the Bournemouth game.
Martin Rowlands and Marc Bircham are slight doubts for the trip to Chesterfield this coming Saturday. Both are nursing slight knocks but should pull through and be fit to play.
