Match Ratings from Saturday

A comfortable win against lowly County made to look more confortable than it really was.
Formation 4-4-2

13) Nick Culkin (6) A poor effort on the first goal from County. The ball seemed to slip under his body. Stil remains a little uncertain on making descisions and communication with the defence needs to improve. Deserves his chance but stil Daisey is our number one.
2) Terrell Forbes (6) Did his job making a few last ditch tackles when called upon but made a few poor crosses. Improvement on his crossing and he'l grow into a good talent. A lot more confident at right-back than his centre-back role where he can look ordinary and is too small to fill Danny's boots.
3) Gino Padula (6) Another average performance from Gino but he improved on his recent poor form. Made a few classy touches yet his final ball let him down on a few occasions. Smashed the cross-bar with an exquisite shot from a free-kick.
5) Clarke Carlisle (6) Man-marked Andy Parkinson well, often winning balls he shouldn't have. Distribution is still a little suspect. Not spectacular but did his job impressively.
12) Matthew Rose (6) Not his best position. His communication with fellow defenders seems a little poor and his positional sense is at times dreadfull. Yet he makes important challenges and interceptions. Saturday he did a job despite a few worrying moments.
14) Martin Rowlands (8) Set up first two goals with his magician like skills on the right. A cut above the rest in this division but stil was no where near his top form. Quite encouraging that he can still create two clear cut goals and severall other chances for his team-mates.
22) Kevin McLeod (7) Return from injury was welcomed by the team offering width and pace out wide. Played a good game, still lacks his form and edge from last season but returned strongly and good to see his grab a goal.
8) Marc Bircham (7) Once again played his heart out for the R's. Making important challenges, chasing lost causes and winning the ball in places he really should'nt be allowed. Had two stunning shots on goal, both tipped wide by there impressive keeper Stuart Garden. Anyone who is knocking his performances should see what were like when he's not playing. Well done Birch, leep it up.
4) Steve Palmer (6) Off the pace again but his determination for team success is so evident. Like Birch he puts his heart into the performance and should be recognised for this, not the player he was and we'l welcome back Beano. All in all a typical Palmer performace.
9) Tony Thorpe (9) Probably Thorpey's best game in an R's shirt. Linked well with Kev and scored his goal. Unlucky not to get more and also have a penalty- booked for his arguments. An excellent performance and my man of the match.
10) Kevin Gallen (8) Another classy performance from Kev. Too good for this division. Played an all round game as usual, linking well with the team and his control of a football and vision is extrodinary. So glad we have him in our team.
29) Paul Furlong (7) A replacement for Thorpe towards the end. Furs still had time to hit the crossbar with his first touch, a header and score a beauty. A strong turn to out fox the defenders and deft finish high to the keeper's right. Looked hungry to regain his place in the team.
28) Jamie Cureaton. His first appearance in an R's shirt was short. 2 minutes to show what he's got playing on the left of midfield. Didn't get a chance to influence but still looked like he's got pace and his hungry to get back to his best.
Bring on the Brentford next week.
