Furs is feeling good

Rangers forward Paul Furlong has been on the sidelines for over two months and he was delighted to get back in the side on Saturday afternoon. The experienced frontman missed five weeks of football through injury before receiving a red card and a subsequent three-match ban in his comeback reserve game.

But with Tony Thorpe injured in training on Friday, Furs was back in the side to face Rushden & Diamonds and, as he told QPR World after the game, he was pleased to be involved again."

I got back earlier than I expected with Tony Thorpe picking up an injury. I've watched a lot of games and Kevin and Tony have been playing well together. I knew it would be difficult to get back in the team."But having been given his chance Furs took it well, partnering Gallen up front and contributing to another important win. Nevertheless, the player himself knows that there is much more to come."

This is the first time I've started competitively since Peterborough and it's not easy."The reserves isn't the same pace or standard and it will take me a couple of games to get back to where I was."And now Paul is looking forward to being part of a squad gunning for promotion.

With 21 games to go, Rangers have a great opportunity to make this a season to remember. Nevertheless, this seasoned campaigner is taking nothing for granted."We won't get carried away. Once you think you've cracked it, football has a habit of kicking you in the teeth."

But we're working hard and hopefully come the end of the year we'll be in the shake up."For the whole of this interview with Paul Furlong head to QPR World now. You can also enjoy extended highlights from Saturday's game plus the post-match thoughts of Rangers boss Ian Holloway.
