QPR have signed Real Madrid's young midfielder Daniel Parejo on a one-year loan.

The 19-year-old highly-rated Spanish Under-19 international has done well for Madrid's B team Castilla, and thanks to QPR co-owner Flavio Briatore's links with the Spanish champions has secured a deal that could pave the way for future deals involving Real Madrid.

Parejo is expected to walk into the first team for the opening game of the season against Barnsley at Loftus Road just days after scoring the winner for Real Madrid in their friendly against Hamburg in Amsterdam.

The Spain Under-19 international said: "Spanish players are having are having great success in English football.

It's a bold move for the youngster to move to England at such a young age, but learning the language and settling into a different style of football will help him in the future, and not going to a top Premier League club will help him learn the hard way.

Parejo said: "For me it's a challenge and for me the only target is to achieve our objective, which is to get into the Premier League."

"It was an opportunity to change things, in Spain things were going very well but this opportunity came about and it was a good chance and I hope things go well at Queens Park Rangers.

"If I wasn't convinced that QPR wasn't very ambitious I wouldn't have come. My objective is to come to this team, I have felt this ambition and I am convinced we will achieve our objective."

Here's to a successful season for to Parejo, and Briatore has already hinted that "Dani" could stay beyond the initial year. Let's hope it works out and that Madrid will be happy to send us more of their players in the foreseeable future.
