Bonnot released

Ian Holloway 'expressed' a wish to keep him, but with the club still in administration and exceeding the current wage budget, Bonnot was told there was no finances to keep him at the club any longer.

Or is this actually the case? Is there really no money available to pay him through until the end of the season — what difference is there between QPR's financial situation now and a month ago, when Bonnot signed his last contract?

I would suggest the situation is not as straightforward as it seems. With many players set to leave the club at the end of the season, if not before, the wage budget will soon be dropping to below the maximum allowed.

If Holloway really wanted to have kept Bonnot, a deal between the two could have been struck, with Bonnot getting paid what he's owed when money is available again.

But after six months, Holloway has obviously decided Bonnot is not the type of player he wants anymore. It's not a great loss to the club, but he probably deserved to at least be given until the end of the season with QPR.
