The Sweden international injured his hamstring just minutes before the midweek 1-1 Championship draw at Derby and was forced to pull out of Blues' starting XI, but he has since recovered in time for a return against Rangers at St Andrews.

"There was a genuine risk on Tuesday but he's raring to go now and he'll play," said boss Alex McLeish.

The former Scotland manager again has the opportunity to rotate his attacking options with Marcus Bent, Garry O'Connor and Kevin Phillips all pushing for starting berths.

Radhi Jaidi will keep his place at the heart of defence but right-back Stephen Kelly (thigh) and midfielder Damien Johnson (back) are both out.

Winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie will be looking for his third goal in as many games against Iain Dowie's side.

Akos Buzsaky and Patrick Agyemang are pushing to return to the QPR starting line-up.

Midfielder Buzsaky is still building up his fitness following a summer ankle operation but helped secure a point for Rangers as a substitute against Blackpool.

Striker Agyemang, another substitute on Tuesday night, is also in line for a recall should boss Iain Dowie revert to a 4-4-2 formation, partnering top scorer Dexter Blackstock in attack.

Winger Hogan Ephraim and young forward Angelo Balanta scored for the reserves in midweek to push their claims, but veteran Italian midfielder Damiano Tommasi is not up to speed despite his appearance for the second string.

Rowan Vine is the only injury absentee having suffered a slight setback in his return from a broken leg.
