Super Gareth Ainsworth's first of his two wonder strikes away at Rushden & Diamonds this season has earned his the crown of ITV's "On The Ball" Goal of The Year 2003.
He won with a clear percentage of 62 and Thierry Henry in second place with 29 for his effort against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Ainsworth's double has since won crowd reactions to away players shot's on goal from distance as..."Your not Gareth Ainsworth, Your not Gareth Ainsworth".
The goal came when Tommy Williams swept the ball from left to right and on the volley some clear 40 yards out, Wild Thing smashed it on the volley with the ball hitting the top left hand corner and flying past the Rushden keeper who never moved!
Ainsworth's second was also very special and it left the crowd wondering will they ever see a better double strike in one game from one player? Probably not!
Well done Gareth!! :)
