Last week QPR MAD asked YOU to answer our exclusive poll. "Is David Davies’ departure a good thing?"
The result was a mixture of uncertainty amongst fans.
66.7% of you said, "Maybe, it depends who steps in"
21.4% of you said, "No, he saved the club"
and 11.9% of you said "Yes, just what the club needed".
Since the poll ended new developments from the David Davies/ Takeover/ Financial uncertainty saga have been made.
As reported by QPR MAD, it’s not just Davies who is leaving the club. Chairman Nick Blackburn and QPR Holdings Company Director Ross Jones are set to follow, thus bringing an end to the Chris Wright era.
I was one of the 21% to vote saying that I thought his departure was a bad omen for the club. I made my decision on the basis of him staying on to work his socks off when the club was in need. When administration came he helped broker a deal to keep the club afloat (£10million loan) and he restructured the finances at the club whilst working closely with the administrators. He also brought about some good business are way, most notably the ground-share agreement with Fulham worth over a million.
BUT, since the voting it has become evident to Rangers fans that Davies, along with Blackburn and Jones had began to loose boardroom backing ever since the arrival of Italian businessman Gianni Paladini.
After grabbing the chance of investment from Paladini, Davies did not realise the impact he would make. Paladini became associated with Bill Power- a lifelong Rangers fan who has also known to throw money of investment into the club.
After numerous boardroom battles Davies was loosing the confidence of his backers and the power-struggle was taking the Italians side.
After one last frustrating meeting Davies quit his post last Friday morning. At the time of writing, Blackburn is on holiday in Portugal and Paladini is creeping more and more into the positions, which are at the moment vacant.
After snubbing numerous offers of takeovers and investment packages by Davies and his two musketeers it seems Gianni Paladini will be the new face of Queens Park Rangers behind the scenes. What happens in the future with reference to the way the club is run and the state of our finances is still a little hazy but one thing is for sure- the Chris Wright era is coming to a dramatic end.
